The MEF offers three types of certification related to Carrier Ethernet.

Services Certification

Service Providers that deliver E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree and/or E-Access services can certify them as compliant with all the relevant MEF specifications through the CE 2.0 Services Certification Program.

Service certification is currently achieved through the CE 2.0 Certification Program which has been available since 2012. Prior to that service certification was achieved through the CE 1.0 (MEF 9 and MEF 14) Program. Services certification is achieved by organizations (not individuals)

Equipment Certification

Equipment manufacturers that provide devices for use at the

  • UNI of E-Line, E-LAN and/or E-Tree services
  • UNI and/or ENNI of E-Access services

can certify them as compliant with all the relevant MEF specifications through the CE 2.0 Equipment Certification Program.

Equipment certification is currently achieved through the CE 2.0 Certification Program which has been available since 2012. Prior to that equipment certification was achieved through the CE 1.0 (MEF 9 and MEF 14) Program . Equipment certification is achieved by organizations (not individuals)

Professional Certification

Individuals that want to demonstrate their knowledge of Carrier Ethernet as defined by the MEF can achieve certification through the MEF Professional Certification Program. Professional certification is achieved by individuals (not organizations)
