MEF 3.0 Workshop – SD-WAN Security & SASE

Security is a top requirement for SD-WAN services and is major area of focus for MEF's industry-leading standardization work to shape the direction and growth of the SD-WAN services market. While SD-WAN services provide more effective application-oriented data connectivity with QoS and network segmentation, centralized visibility, policy control, and scalability, a large number of SD-WAN endpoints can increase the attack surface of an enterprise IT environment and create more complexity for regulatory compliance. SD-WAN service providers that support security functions can help enterprises offload the increasingly complex set of functions required to maintain and improve their IT security posture over time.

In this interactive members-only workshop, we will provide an in-depth look at MEF's emerging SD-WAN Security (MEF W88) standard that specifies the policy criteria needed to add application security to SD-WAN services. MEF W88 is based on the framework established in MEF W70.1, which introduces the concepts of application flow security criterion and zones as part of the phase 2 evolution of MEF's groundbreaking SD-WAN Service Attributes and Services (MEF 70) standard.  Both MEF W88 and MEF W70.1 are expected to enter the final phase of membership and Board approval in 4Q 2020.
