ICM provides domain specific resource management layer capabilities including configuration, control and supervision of the network infrastructure (e.g., SDN Controller, WAN Controller, NFV MANO, etc.)

In the LSO Reference Architecture, the ICM interfaces with the network resources via LSO Adagio (southbound) and with the Service Orchestration Functionality (SOF) via LSO Presto (northbound).

Example(s)

ONF SDN Controller (SDNC)

The functionality in charge of translating the network requirements from the SDN Application layer down to the SDN Datapaths and providing the SDN Applications with an abstract view of the network including statistics and events.

ETSI NFV MANO Network Functions Virtualization Orchestrator (NFVO)

The functionality that manages the Network Service (NS) lifecycle and coordinates the management of NS lifecycle, VNF lifecycle (supported by the VNFM) and Network Functions Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVI) resources (supported by the VIM) to ensure an optimized allocation of the necessary resources and connectivity.
