Automating the Global Ecosystem

Join MEF in Rome to conduct business, expand partnerships, and collaborate around industry topics.

2023 is shaping up as a year of accelerated adoption of MEF standards enabling secure, dynamic services across a global ecosystem of automated networks. More than 115 service providers worldwide are now in some stage of the adoption lifecycle for LSO Sonata business APIs  - up 130% year/year. MEF continues to progress valuable work on LSO operational APIs with the expectation of first implementations this year. And the recent release of our first SASE services and Zero Trust framework standards sets the stage for an exciting new chapter for MEF as we evolve to meet the demanding needs of enterprise digital transformation.

Key Highlights of the Rome meeting

  • LSO Partner Conference – automating business and operational functions, driving adoption, and evolving to LSO Blockchain-based billing and settlement
  • The MEF Showcase – spotlighting innovation and accelerating transformation through collaboration
  • MEF Committees – dozens of active projects on the topics of digital services, LSO automation, certification and more
  • MEF's upcoming State of the Industry report - Paradigm Shift: Inter-Provider Service Automation – assisting SPs in all stages of the LSO adoption lifecycle, from interest through to implementation
  • SD-WAN services, certification, and cybersecurity (SASE & Zero Trust) frameworks
  • MEF's annual flagship event 2-4 Oct - to feature a new brand, theme, format, and awards program!

The longest serving committee in MEF that defined the now ubiquitous Carrier Ethernet services, the Digital Services Committee will be running working sessions to advance MEF work to define a wide range of standardized services that can be used to maximize interoperability, consistent terminology in the industry and enable business and operational automation (LSO).

The LSO Committee sessions are where you'll want to be to help shape LSO automation as we move toward the Fergie release and beyond, including active work on Product APIs and Schemas, Service Ordering, and Service APIs and Schemas. These sessions are especially valuable if your company has already begun automating their business processes, as you can help direct the work to include what has already been done.

The Commercial and Business Committee will be holding its second MEF Showcase milestone day with a wide range of LSO API and LSO Blockchain use cases reviewed and discussed. The attendance in the first milestone day in the recent Los Angeles meeting was very high and demonstrated how valuable this new collaborative framework is for a wide range of our members.

Work on the next phase of the SD-WAN/SASE and LSO API certification are  underway in the Test and Certification Committee, and the Rome meeting is a great chance to get a head start so that your company can be among the first to receive the new certifications. The TCC will also explore next steps in the highly successful MEF Onboarding & Interop Testing (OIT) Service.
