An industry association of 200+ member companies, MEF recently has introduced the MEF 3.0 Transformational Global Services Framework for defining, delivering, and certifying agile, assured, and orchestrated services over across a global ecosystem of automated networks. MEF 3.0 services are designed to provide an on-demand, cloud-centric experience with user- and application-directed control over network resources and service capabilities. MEF 3.0 services are delivered over automated, virtualized, and interconnected networks powered by LSO (Lifecycle Service Orchestration), SDN, and NFV.
As explained in this Overview, MEF 3.0 is comprised of four major elements:
MEF launched an Applications Committee to enable applications to dynamically interact with the network using machine-to-machine APIs, thereby ensuring that application-level quality of experience, security, and performance requirements can be met by the underlying network infrastructure without human intervention.
