The MEF is the only industry body offering certification relating to Carrier Ethernet services. The MEF offers three types of certification - CE 2.0 Services Certification, CE 2.0 Equipment Certification and MEF Professional Certification.

Services Certification

Service Providers that deliver  E-Line,  E-LAN, E-Tree,  E-Access or E-Transit services can certify them as compliant with all the relevant MEF specifications as described in the CE 2.0 Certification Blueprint.

Service certification is currently achieved through the CE 2.0 Certification Program which has been available since 2012 (Prior to that service certification was achieved through the CE 1.0 (MEF 9 and MEF 14) Program).
CE 2.0 services certification is achieved by organizations (not individuals).

Equipment Certification

Equipment manufacturers that provide devices for use at the

  • UNI of E-Line, E-LAN and/or E-Tree services
  • UNI and/or ENNI of E-Access and E-Transit services

can certify them as compliant with all the relevant MEF specifications as described in CE 2.0 Certification Blueprint.

Individuals that want to demonstrate their knowledge of Carrier Ethernet as defined by the MEF can achieve certification through the MEF Professional Certification Program.

MEF professional certification is achieved by individuals (not organizations).

Individuals or employer organizations interested in achieving MEF Professional Certification can contact Ethernet Academy and/or MEF's third party accredited training providers (MEF-ATPs) for information on how to proceed.
