MEF 32Service OAM Fault Management Definition of Managed ObjectsRequirements for Service Protection Across External Interfaces
MEF 31 32 is a specification document developed by the Technical Committee of the MEF. Abstract: "This document specifies the Fault Management (FM) Management Information Base (MIB) nec-essary to implement the Service Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) that satis-fies the Service OAM requirements and framework specified by MEF 17 [8], the Service OAM Fault Management requirements as specified by SOAM-FM [10], and the Service OAM man-agement objects as specified by MEF 7.1 [5] which are applicable to Fault Management func-tions. Two non-MEF documents serve as the baseline documents for this work: ITU-T Y.1731 [17] and IEEE 802.1ag [20]contains requirements for protecting Ethernet Services at an External Interface against link or a Network Element (NE) failure. This specification identifies resiliency requirements at external interfaces applicable to MEF Service and associated Service End Points, which associate services with External Interfaces. MEF would like these requirements to be considered when designing a mechanism for Service Protection across an External Interface. The current MEF standardized External Interfaces are the UNI and ENNI. These requirements aim to cover a wide range of MEF Ethernet service types as well as a wide range of network deployments in which the EIs are MEF defined EIs."
