Birds of a Feather w/ Refreshments (Ching Room)

Topic 1: Data on-demand through a Federated Commercial and Operational Platform by Shahar Steiff, PCCW Global

Operators turned to Service-Providers turned to Communication-Service Providers turned to ICT-SPs that:

  • Compete on Apps (that use standard-based Managed-Transport, Compute and Storage service components)
  • That run on Interconnected Autonomous Silos (operated by ICT-SPs).
  • Through Co-Operation of a Federated Commercial+Operational (BlockChain and Catalog based) Platform that creates value to all participating ICT-SPs.

Topic 2: Network Slicing by Sibylle Schaller, NEC

The Network Slicing project under the LSO Committee was setup to clarify and document what slicing means and how it relates to LSO and MEF services. The project’s scope includes a gap analysis based on which, either new projects will be proposed to fill those gaps if they are specific to LSO or some MEF service (especially if requiring extending/updating and existing specification), or this project will create new specifications if the theme overarches LSO and Services. Work in the project has reached a stage, where potential of new types of MEF Services and business models become visible. This BoF will introduce Network Slicing projects findings and intends to trigger a discussion how far MEF would go specifying services beyond the standards that already exist or are currently in development. In addition it will be necessary to discuss how the different MEF committees (esp Services, Applications, LSO) will cooperate and distribute required work respectively.
